Sept. 22, 2012. Happy baby shower to my cousin! She’s having a baby girl! Here’s a picture of her with her cake. The theme for the shower was black and white (polka dots) and red lady bugs. What better way to celebrate with a black, white, and red cake! Congratulations to Vicky and Jose!

August 4, 2012 - My friend asked me to make her grandmother’s 85th birthday cake. Here’s the cake! This was my first time using ribbon on a cake and also my first time using gold spray mist. I made the flowers the night before and used Duff’s art graffiti to spray the flowers with gold. I think they turned out pretty good (for my first time). The top right pic is of my friend’s Lola — she looks good for 85! Don’t you think? My friend text me and told me that her Lola loved the cake…that makes me happy!

July 14, 2012 - My sis is gonna have a baby! Who would’ve thunk it? Just last year I was making their house-warming cake and here I am now, making their baby shower cake! The first photo is the picture my sis sent me…she found the photo on google. And the rest are my take on the cake. The second photo is the cake without the borders — as you can see there are some tiny mistakes, so I made a cake border to cover up my mistakes. No one can tell ;)

Total time to make this cake was probably 14 hours. These cakes take a while, people don’t seem to realize this, but it was a lot of fun. It was a bit tricky to place the second tier on top of the sports balls; I just used three plastic dowels to place the top tier on the bottom tier. I would not recommend this because the top tier slipped off!! I would recommend using cake pillars for something like this. I got lucky and nothing was ruined when the top tier slipped off. Thank goodness!!

Congrats to the soon-to-be parents! I’m so excited for my baby nephew to be here… He should be here at the end of August!

May 26, 2012 - Dad’s 64th birthday cake. My dad loves poker…so what better way to show my love? With a poker cake, of course! Here’s what I made my dad. He loved it.

May 23, 2012 - My sis got her MSW. Here’s what I made for her graduation….a cake! I found images that I liked on pinterest and combined it all. This is what I came up with. Inside was german chocolate with buttercream filling & heath pieces. This time I used an already chopped up heath package — but I didn’t like it. I like chopping up my own heath pieces. Now I know for next time.

This was also my first time making the pillow print. I really like how it turned out, but I will have to practice a little more to get cleaner angle edges.

Motorcycle cake!

February 25, 2012 - It’s a boy! Here’s the cake that I made for my cousin’s baby shower. This will be her third baby, but first boy. Oh boy!

This is a motorcycle cake german chocolate cake with heath& vanilla buttercream filling inside. This was first time making a motorcylce cake - it took me about ~5 hours just to make the topping on the cake. That was the toughest part, but I think it turned out all right. I gained more experience working with black buttercream fondant…it’s pretty tricky, but well worth it. This was a fun cake to make. Congrats to the Metcalf’s!

Dino Cake for Charlise

One of my good friend’s asked me to make her daughter’s 7th birthday cake. She wanted a dinosaur theme. The top picture is a photo of what my friend sent to me - she wanted to me to replicate the cake. The rest of the photos are my “take” on the cake. The last photo is of the birthday girl and her cake! I wasn’t able to make the party, but her mom told me that she loved it! Makes me happy!

Life’s a beach cake

1/6/2012

Yay! I got to use my new cricut machine again. So, my other sis wanted a pretty birthday cake so I decided I’d make her one. I surprised her with this cake. She didn’t know what I was going to make so it was fun to see the look on her face. Inside was a german chocolate with vanilla buttercream & heath bar bits filling cake. Yum! I think this is one of my most favorite cakes ever!

Mryna’s birthday cake

January 3, 2012

My sis asked me to make her a birthday cake. She told me that she wanted zebra stripes and red flowers on the cake. Here’s what I made. Inside was a yellow cake with vanilla buttercream & fresh strawberry filling. I learned so much from this cake. I learned how to put fresh fruit inside a cake :o) This is the first cake I made with my new cricut cake decorating machine. I can’t wait to make more cakes!

Kenny’s SF forty niners cake

12/15/2011

Kenny wanted a forty niners brithday cake. Here’s my take on the cake. The lettering was a bit of a challenge. I stenciled the letters myself…but I’m pretty proud. Here’s his cake! Inside was a simple white cake with vanilla & heath bar bits filling.
